A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE CARVED WOOD
FIGURE OF A BODHISATTVA
Ming Dynasty
The imposing figure standing on a lotus petal base,
dressed in long robes falling in folds to touch the
bare fee and draped with sashes that extend over
the arms to the petal-edge base, the oval face with
a serene expression, crowned by a five-pointed
diadem, carved from a solid block with traces of
pigment and gesso remaining.
