                                                            Conforming to the shape of the large pebble, one side carved and
                                                            undercut to create the scene of a sage and his attendant crossing a
                                                            bridge over a mountain stream issuing from a spring in the craggy rock
                                                            face, the path the figures are on continuing past two wutong trees and
                                                            up towards a cave in the distance, the reverse carved with overlapping
                                                            planes and trees, the stone of pale celadon color with russet and brown
                                                            inclusions, wood stand.

                                                            TWO ROCK CRYSTAL CARVINGS
                                                            Early 20th century
                                                            The first a mountain-form brush rest, the second a small water coupe
                                                            or brush washer in a branch of lotus flowers; both carved in stone with
                                                            notable areas of ‘rutilated’ and smoky colors.

                                                            The lion finial atop the domical lid surmounting the compressed
                                                            ovoid body raised on three hoof-form feet and suspending opposing
                                                            separately-carved ring handles (one ring lost); the color of blackish
                                                            translucent hue streaked with inclusions.
