BATS’ TWO-HANDLED VASE, HU
252 Guangxu six-character mark and of the period
116 | BONHAMS The pear-shaped body of quatre-foil
section, flanked with two tubular lug handles
embellished with shou-characters, raised
on a short foot rim, finely enamelled to each
side with a continuous spray of fruiting
peach branches with bats flying overhead,
all composed between a keyfret border
encircling the mouth rim and a lappet band at
the foot.

A FAMILLE ROSE ‘MEDALLION’
BALUSTER VASE
19th century
The baluster body and slender, flaring, neck
enamelled in the famille rose palette with
medallions of scholars looking at paintings,
and ladies with boy attendants, all reserved
on a white ground interspersed with small
floral sprays, the shoulder with a rouge-de-fer
cloud collar.
