19th century
Variously decorated in gold, coloured lacquer and mother-of-pearl
with dragonflies, a multitude of cranes in flight, an exotic bird on a
riverbank amongst flowering peonies and a heron perched on a pole
before a moored boat and grasses.
The largest 9.5cm (3.3/4in) long. (4).

19th century
Finely and variously decorated with flocks of cranes on a nashiji
ground, attached ivory netsuke; two rabbits, the reverse with a
crescent moon; ducks swimming amongst swirling waters; and
scattered chrysanthemum flowerheads.

TWO KOMAI INLAID IRON CASES AND A KOMAI STYLE CASE
Meiji Period
Of rounded rectangular form, the first with a group of egrets amongst
reeds, the reverse with six butterflies; the second with a scene of a
riverside village, the reverse with a monogram, both signed on the
base with seal Nihonkoku Kyoto no ju Komai sei beneath a dragonfly;
the third with a central panel of a riverside scene to the front, and
peacocks amongst peonies to the reverse, on a dense foliate ground
with scattered mon.
