The sturdy beast is heavily cast standing
TRIPOD CENSERS foursquare, its head modelled with bulging
eyes and a broad, flat nose; the mouth agape to
QING DYNASTY, 18TH-19TH CENTURY reveal its set of sharp teeth; all below pricked
ears and a single horn. The ridged spine forms

Dr Gordon Fryers (1922-2008) and Dr Rosemary Fryers (1922-
1994) moved to Singapore in 1946 after qualifying as doctors,
where they made their first purchases of Chinese art and
continued to develop a keen interest in Chinese art and culture.
