AN ARCHAISTIC SILVER-INLAID BRONZE                                    QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)

VASE, HU                                                              The vase is of archaic zun shape with a square-section body,
                                                                      applied with two dragon-form handles, each side is cast with taotie
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)                                              masks and upright leaves on a leiwen ground. The inside of the rim
                                                                      and the base cast with an inscription in archaic script.
The vase is crisply cast and decorated to the body with taotie masks  14º in. (36.4 cm.) high, Japanese wood box
with bulging eyes, below a border of taotie masks on the neck,
which is flanked by a pair of beast-form handles. The spreading       HK$80,000-120,000  US$11,000-16,000
pedestal foot is further encircled by a band of confronting dragons.
