A CONFUCIUS-STYLE LACQUERED QIN,

NAMED WANGHESONG

QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)

The qin is waisted along two ends of the body, the upper surface
is gently convex and the underside is pierced with two sound
holes, termed as the ‘Dragon Pool’ and ‘Phoenix Pond’. The
name of the qin is inscribed above the ‘Dragon Pool’, Wanghesong,
‘Pines among a myriad of valleys’, flanked by a poetic inscription
followed by a date corresponding to 1913 and the name of the
studio Zhongzhengtang where the qin was last repaired.
