The ritual form jade section with a square
body and circular end, one end later cut
down and incised to each face with floral

CARVING OF SEATED DAOIST SCHOLAR
Ming Dynasty
The jade stone carved in openwork with a
bearded scholar seated with a ruyi sceptre
in long robes amongst rockwork and pine
trees, with two young attendants and another
scholar to one side, wood stand. 10cm (4in)
wide (2).
