              Opaque watercolor heightened with gold on paper

              A lord, holding a gold vina and seated on a jeweled throne
              under a parasol, listens attentively to an bearded musician
              perform Sri Raga. The music conveying a mood of majesty,
              contemplation and meditation. An attendant waves a chowrie
              ( ywhisk) and holds the lord’s sheathed sword - both symbols
              of royal authority.

              a ower-garland.

              folio: 12 ⅛ by 8 ½ in., 30.8 by 21.6 cm

              A lord, beautifully attired and nimbated stands in a forest
              clearing leaning on a long crook. He gestures to his beloved
              as she leans a long-neck stringed vina over her shoulder. The
              branches of a slender tree enclose them.
