Step Two:
First, drag the blur pin the filter added over her eye that’s closest to the camera, then go to Blur Tools panel in the top right and, in the Field Blur section,
drag the Blur slider down to zero. This protects that area from being blurred. Click on the image to add another pin and do the same thing anywhere part of
your subject is on the same plane as their front eye. In this case, I felt that part of her jacket needed to be in focus, as well, since it would be pretty much on
the same plane. So, I added a pin there, and set the Blur amount to zero to remove the blur in that area. I then did the same thing on her hand. Now to add
the blurs.
Step Three:
Click on the image to add another pin to the right of our subject and set the Blur amount very high (in this case, I went up to 227 pixels) to make that area
very soft. What I like about using these Field Blur pins is that you can reposition them. You can even get very close to your subject’s face and that first pin
we moved over her eye will protect that area. So, it offers you a lot of control when trying to get her ear a little bit out of focus, along with the back of her
hair. You’ll see what I mean when you try it yourself.
