Step Three:
When you choose Content-Aware Fill from the Edit menu (like we just did), it brings up this new workspace: there’s a Toolbar on the left, then your image
window (with the area outside your selection tinted in green), then a preview of Content-Aware Fill’s fix in its own Preview panel (use the slider at the
bottom of the panel to change the size of your preview), and then the Content-Aware Fill panel on the right (seen here, below). At this point, we haven’t
done anything other than open this new workspace, so it doesn’t look any different than it did before—it’s still pulling its patch from that white window
frame, and it still looks bad. One thing that I do before I start working in this workspace is I go to the Sampling Options section in the Content-Aware Fill
panel and, from the Indicates pop-up menu, I choose Excluded Area (as shown here, and seen in the next step). That way, I can paint over any areas I
don’t want Content-Aware Fill to use, and see those areas in the green tint (by the way, if you don’t like green as the color that displays the areas you want
excluded, click on the Color swatch and choose a different one. You can also change the Opacity of the tint using the Opacity slider).
