                   1. Doctor: Now, Mrs. Smith, can Jimmy raise his head up when he lies on his
                                           chest?
                   2. Patient’s mother: Uh, yes, he looks likes he’s about to start crawling.
                   3. Doctor: Can he hold a small toy for a short time?

                   4. Patient’s mother: Uh, yes, he holds his rattle when you give it to him.

                   5. Doctor: Ok. Can he move his eyes to look at moving objects around his
crib? And does he look at people when they pass by?

                   6. Patient’s mother: Yes, he seems to be interested in everything that’s happening.
                   7. Doctor: Ok, how much does he weigh?

                   8. Patient’s mother : Um, 6 ½ kilos.
                   9. Doctor: And how tall?

                   10. Patient’s mother: 75 cm.
                   11. Doctor What does he prefer, looking at people’s faces or toys?
                   12. Patient’s mother : Oh, he’s much more interested in people than his toys.

                   13. Doctor: Does he use his hands to explore his face and body?

                   14. Patient’s mother : Uh, yes, he is always feeling around with his hands.
                   15. Doctor : Does he make eye contact with you or your husband?
                   16. Patient’s mother : Yes, he loves to stare at us.

                   17. Doctor: Does he smile at familiar faces?
                   18. Patient’s mother : Yes, he stares at us and smiles. And his sister too.

                   19. Doctor: Does he cry when he wants something?
                   20. Patient’s mother : Yes, he isn’t shy about letting us know he wants something. The
trouble is to figure out what he wants.
                   21. Doctor: OK, can he differentiate between your voice and others’?

                   22. Patient’s mother: Yes, his eyes light up when I walk into the room.
