Page 4 - HOW TO HIRE THE RIGHT REAL ESTATE AGENT
P. 4
4. Do you work on your own or are you part of a team?
If the agent you are interviewing heads up a large office, it may be that he or she will not be the one doing business
with you the entire time. If that’s the case, you should know up front exactly how the agent will be involved, and you
should be able to meet the other agents who will be working with you.
5. Would I be working with you directly or working with members of the team?
There’s nothing more frustrating than getting incredibly comfortable with an agent and then seeing someone new at
every meeting. A small team is OK—it means more resources and assistance—but get introduced to everyone. Don’t al-
low your home to be another nameless, faceless listing.
6. May I see your real estate license or what is the DRE# or name on your license?
No brainer, right? Always ensure you’re working with a trained, accredited professional. Every listing agent should be
prepared to deliver proof of their license to sell in your area. If they can’t deliver, move on because something shady
is going on. Log on to the CA Department of Real Estates website, http://www.dre.ca.gov/Consumers/ where you
can verify the agent’s license and review any comments made regarding violations of regulations.
