You can experience a variety of emotions, and you can learn to direct and
guide your emotional experience so that you eliminate most of your
unnecessary suffering. The rst step is identifying and admitting what you
are feeling. Just as feeling is one way you respond to your situation, behaving
is another way. Behavior describes what you are doing or how you are acting.
Look at the following words that describe behavior. The list may help you to
nd some words that describe your actions and help you to increase your
vocabulary about behavior.
avoiding hitting arguing talking
withdrawing yelling sulking crying
screaming aggressive sleeping eating
drinking driving complaining
ALIVE CODE believes strongly that you can learn to change your self-
defeating, addictive, or other undesirable behaviors by changing the way
you talk to yourself or think. You can learn new behavior.
ALIVE CODE also holds strongly that you can always accept yourself, no
matter how poor your behavior may be. You always have the choice of
accepting or not accepting yourself yes, under ad conditions no matter how
you behave.
No, not always accepting what you do. Yes, always accepting you, the
doer. Now that you have learned the basics of ALIVE CODE , you can check
how well you understand them in lesson 3.
