Action steps to advance the goals
and strategies
There are many ways to advance the goals and strategies of this Action Plan. The Statewide Office for Suicide
Prevention and the Suicide Prevention Coordinating Council have provided three examples of efforts that
Floridians, as well as local and state agencies, can use to advance the goals and strategies. The first example
titled, Efforts for Floridians to advance suicide prevention strategies provides actionable opportunities and
resources for communities, individuals, families, businesses, employers, non-profit and faith-based
organizations, health systems, insurers, and

The second example titled, Regional outline Goals and Strategies
for expansion of suicide prevention activities
is a template for the Department of Children
and Families’ Substance Abuse and Mental
Health (SAMH) Regional Offices to work Efforts for Floridians
towards expanding the strategies by to advance suicide
prevention
collaborating with their communities on strategies
creating a local level plan that will include
measurable action items.
The third example titled, Suicide Prevention
Interagency Duties to Execute and Reach
Suicide Prevention
Goals (SPIDER G) includes measurable Interagency Duties to Regional outline for
action items created by state agencies to Execute and Reach expansion of suicide
prevention activities
Goals (SPIDER G)
decrease deaths by suicide in Florida.
Diagram 2 shows the relationship among the
three examples. It is important to note that
these three examples are provided as a
guide; therefore, other efforts not included in
this Action Plan can also be implemented.
