As a young lad Daedalus was shipped off to a country estate in the West
Country - missing his fellow reprobates from the London docks he would have to
make his own fun. Ever the mischievous child, he spent hours stealing apples &
berries from the store rooms of local farmers. Unfortunately for him the black
stains from the berries always showed who the guilty party was. The poor sod
would often be black & blue from the hidings he received from the angry
farmers wives, living up to the ‘Ink’ name as always.
Oxford English Dictionary 1747 shrub “any of various acidulated beverages made from the
juice of fruit, sugar, and other ingredients, often including alcohol.”
