I am visiting Father at his Kimberly mining operation. Greeting me with a raised
eyebrow, he has instructed me to go off into the bush in his place to investigate a
potentially new deposit. I am venturing with only my trusty gang for company as
secrecy is of the utmost importance.
On the second day, I am split from my compadres when a lion chases me down on
horseback - I sacrifice my mare to the ferocious creature and take refuge in a field of
termite mounds.
Spotting a strange pig-like animal disappearing down a hole in the largest mound, I follow
and hide with the peculiar varmint.
I hide out for several days with my new piggy companion as the savage beast stalks us in
frustration above ground. Noting the creature’s obvious delight in eating the ants, I
venture to try some and find them strangely satisfying and nutritious.
I follow the strange little earth pig deeper into the mound only to discover a cache of
gemstones the creature has inadvertently dug up.
Realising the lion has given up on eating us, I return above ground a little dusty not to
mention peckish. My colleagues discover me the next day with my pockets full of the
gemstones and snacking on some tasty ants.
