I travel north to Uganda, Kenya on a mercy mission with a troop of workers, my trusty
associates and the great white hunter, Lt. Col. John H. Patterson. We are on the hunt
for two beasts of an unusually savage nature.
It is rumoured that two male lions have been harassing workers during the construction
of the railway - work is grinding to a halt as the locals cower in fear of the beasts.
I agree to sit out in the night with Lt. Col. Patterson and act as live bait while the
great white hunter lies in wait. I steel myself with a bottle of Dutch courage.
It is only by chance and the dropping of my bottle of Bol’s fire water that I am saved.
As I bend to retrieve it, a lion leaps out of the darkness like a ghost and soars over me.
The Beast lands badly tumbling forward & hitting a rock head first, concussing itself and
knocking its tooth out. Taking advantage of its addled state, I run for cover in the
trees grabbing my trophy fang on the way.
The next day I awoke with a sobering hangover and thinking, bugger this for a laugh!! I
grab my compadres and head off on the first train south. We leave the Lt. Col. with
his further enraged beasts and I understand he eventually shot them both but not until
they had eaten a hundred or so locals and workmen.
