Teree Farbstein
HaKaras HaTov
Award Recipient
In her relatively short time as an NHBZ member, Teree
Farbstein has quickly emerged as an active and capable
leader at our shul. Teree currently serves as a second-term
President of the NHBZ Sisterhood, which has thrived under
her leadership. In her role, Teree has been an integral part
in the success of the Sisterhood’s signature event, the Dine
‘N’ Style Fashion Show, now in its fourth year. As a former
Vice President of the Sisterhood, Teree helped organize the
Sisterhood’s first Mah Jongg tournament in the St. Louis
community and has been consistently involved in the
planning and creation of other programs. As Sisterhood
President, she is an ex-officio member of the NHBZ Board
of Directors as well.
Originally from St. Louis, Teree moved to California as a
young adult, and it was first in San Mateo and later Chico,
CA where her interest in Jewish community involvement
blossomed. At two different congregations, Teree served on
the Sisterhood board, edited the newsletter, and later
became the Treasurer, which, at her small shul, also meant
bookkeeper.
When Teree moved back to St. Louis in the early ‘00s, she
found her leadership home in Hadassah, the Women’s
Zionist Organization of America. She first joined the local
chapter of Hadassah as a way to meet new people, but her
dedication and capabilities were soon recognized and she
became Secretary, Treasurer, and later President of the
