Some experts argue 16-point font is the best size; however, the best decision would be to
maintain appropriate line height and length for different screens sizes to improve the reading
experience. For PowerPoint presentations, your fonts never should be smaller than 28 points and
preferably 30-32 points.
Use different types of visual content
To take your visual to the next level, make sure you use all must-try types of visual content.
Images
As you already know, posts with images produce 180% more engagement and 94% more view rate. With
that in mind, a visual needs as many free image sources as possible to make the content flourish.
Besides, you can do your best and try customizing images to your project. With numerous browser-
based photo editors, you can turn standard pictures into appealing visuals.
What can you do?
• Adjust the color to a picture.
• Make a collage.
• Add text and frames.
• Change the shape of a picture.
• Extend backgrounds.
One of the easiest ways to locate an image that you could use in a visual aid is to use your computer and
type in the search area the topic of the desired picture. For example, say you want a picture of a flower,
you would type in “flowers.” Then select “Images” in your Google search, and you will see hundreds, if
not thousands, of flowers images. Some of the images on the page are copyrighted or licensed and
cannot be freely used without permission or payment. To make sure you do not violate any copyright
rules, go to the “tools” section and select “user rights.” You can then sort the pictures which are labeled
for reuse (free) or reuse for non-commercial use (also free as long as you are not selling something in
your audio-visual aid).
Once you find the image that you can legally use, click on it. It will enlarge on your screen. Right click on
the picture and you can save the image as… (save it on your desktop) or copy the image, then paste it
into your visual. You can size it to fit your visual.
If you are using large images, you should set the size of the image to “large” in your tools section. The
images will then be filtered to show only images that are denser and have more pixels per inch. This is
very important when printing media to insure high quality pictures, especially photographs.
If you are using Microsoft Word to create your aid, select the “insert” tab. Then click on “clip art.” A
Clip Art pane will open on the right side of the screen. Type in a topic in the “search for” box. All the
images that are available are for FREE use. Just select the one you desire and it will fill your screen and
can be resized.
