Titus 2:5 “to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject
to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”
The word “homemaker” comes from two Greek words which mean “to work”
and “home”. The Greek word “oikos” means “home” and it’s “affairs
(environments)”. The Greek word “ergon” means “work” and its “efforts”.
2. The helper is to actively “manage the house” under her husband’s
authority.
1 Timothy 5:14 “So I counsel younger widows to marry, to have
children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no
opportunity for slander.”
Women are to “Manage” the home. (The Greek word “despot” means to
manage, oversee, absolute ruler, monarch, king, boss) the “home”. The husband
is still the head. but the wife has lots of responsibility over the rest of the
household.
Proverbs 31:15 “She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for
her family and portions for her female servants.”
3. She manages her maidservants.
Proverbs 31:26–27 “She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She
watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.”
4. The helper generates profit.
Proverbs 31:16 “She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.”
5. The helper extends her hand to the poor. She sees needs around her and gives from her
assets.
Proverbs 31:20 “She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.”
6. The helper invests her life, so that her husband becomes “known in the gates”.
Proverbs 31:22–24 “She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of
the land. She makes linen garments and sells them and supplies the merchants with
sashes.”
7. She earns her husband’s trust.
Proverbs 31:11 “Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.”
8. She contributes to his good.
