What is the Most Accurate Bible Translation?

               3.4 Let’s Practice…

                          1. Name three major challenges when it comes to translating the Bible into another
                          language.

                          2. Define formal equivalency.

                          3. Define dynamic equivalency.

               4. What dangers are there when it comes to a translation that is dynamically equivalent?

               5. What is the best “rule of thumb” when it comes to Bible translations.

               3.5 Let’s Personalize this Lesson…

You may have several options when it comes to Bible translations in your language. In English,
there are many, some very reliable and some not. When selecting a translation, be sure to
check out the scholarship of those who worked together on the translation. If one person is it,
I would question that translation. It could have a lot of bias in it. Also get the opinion of Bible
scholars in your area. Ask then what a good translation would be to read and study. I
personally study with a translation that is more equivalent (NASV or ESV) but enjoy reading the Bible
using a translation that is more dynamic (NIV). Both versions used multiple scholars and are considered
               very reliable.
