and women are to be received into the body of Christ called the church and treated as beloved fellow
heirs of the wondrous salvation that Paul so meticulously exposited in the first half of this letter. They are
called to wonder in their salvation in Christ and show that wonder in the way that they lived together in
harmony despite their differences so that God would be glorified in them.
Theology That Helps Us Live to God’s Glory in The Church
Every believer, no matter what their background, gifting, and position in the local church is
accountable to God for how they use the resources that God has given them to display to those
around them their love for and devotion to Jesus Christ. The one who judges how well one uses the
resources and freedoms that they have been given is God. We are not free to impose our ideas in matters
of Christian liberty on those around us and we are to respect the choices that we each make about the
proper use of our freedoms to display the glory of Christ and enhance the proclamation of His message of
salvation.
When we live with one another in the church respecting, cooperating, and delighting in the different ways
that God has created each of us we show to a watching world the power of God’s salvation to change the
hearts of people so that they learn to love who they used to hate, respect who they used to despise and
serve who used to serve them. Such living results in the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ going forth
with an integrity that will make it attractive to the many different peoples and personalities that populate
our world.
