since 1963. Mrs. W. J. Johnson, Jr. also helps part time.
The Kernersville Lions Club was first chartered on
October 14, 1925 with a total of twenty members, two
of whom are still in the Club. This club has the dis-
tinction of being the second club chartered in Forsyth
County, and among the very first in North Carolina.
The major function of the club over the years has
been aid to the visually handicapped.
Lions Award Night- The club now has 77 members who, under the able

Lain. major project assistance to the visually handicapped and
blind. They are always ready and willing to help with
any civic projects which are for the betterment of our
city.

Vance-Ballard Coal Co. was organized in 1937, by Fred F. Vance and
Bynum Ballard, to furnish coal to the citizens in Kernersville. In 1950 they
began the sale of fuel oils, as well as coal, and are proud to number a
large part of the community among their valued customers. Both the
owners, and their employees, are active in civic affairs, and look forward
to continued service in this community.

Charlie, Virginia, Charlie Frank, Dwight, Warren and employees wish to
express appreciation to the many customers who have made 24 years of
operation a pleasant and successful experience.
