BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN FISHERIES

                                                                                       Level III Phase 2



                       In  order  to  determine  if  the  educational  objectives  of  the  BSF  program  are

               met,  the  minimum  set  of  learning  outcomes  based  on  the  draft  of  CHED


               Memorandum  Order  for  the  Policies,  Standards,  and  Guidelines  (PSG)  for  the

               Bachelor of Science In Fisheries (BSF) program are as follows (Table 1.1):



               Table 1.1 Minimum set of learning outcomes for the BS Fisheries (BSF) program

                 Common to all programs in all types of schools
                     a.  Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice
                        (PQF level 6 descriptor);
                     b.  Effectively communicate orally and in writing using both English and Filipino;
                     c.  Work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams
                        (PQF level 6 descriptor);
                     d.  Act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibilities;
                     e.  Preserve and promote “Filipino historical and cultural heritage” (based on RA
                        7722);
                 Common to the discipline
                     f.  Generate and share knowledge relevant to specific fields in the study of
                        agriculture education;
                     g.  Formulate and implement agricultural development plans and programs;

                 Specific to sub-discipline and a major
                     h.  Develop, operate and manage aquaculture production systems;
                     i.  Utilize fisheries resources using innovative fishing methods which are responsible
                        and sustainable;
                     j.  Apply post-harvest practices that are compliant to international standards for food
                        safety and quality;
                     k.  Manage and protect the integrity and quality of aquatic ecosystems and
                        resources;
                 Common to a horizontal type as defined in CMO 46 s. 2012
                     l.  For professional institutions: a service orientation in one’s profession,
                     m.  For  colleges:  an  ability  to  participate  in  various  types  of  employment,
                        development  activities,  and  public  discourses  particularly  in  response  to  the
                        needs of the communities one serves,
                     n.  For universities: an ability to participate in the generation of new knowledge or in
                        research and development projects
                        Graduates  of  State  Universities  and  Colleges  must,  in  addition,  have  the
                        competencies  to  support  “national,  regional  and  local  development  plans.”  (RA
                        7722)
