Enhancement of the Major Courses of the BS Fisheries Curriculum
As a discipline, fisheries science encompasses a broad scale of concerns. To
study fisheries is to study the wilderness and captivity of all organisms in the aquatic
environment and those that significantly affect them. Furthermore, the importance of
fish as food is emphasized in the program by the teaching of aquaculture, capture,
and post-harvest fisheries.
Hence in BS Fisheries (BSF) program, major courses are divided under the
above four disciplines. At present, both the old and the revised curriculum of the BSF
program are being used in the Fisheries and Marine Science Department (FMSD).
The new curriculum has been particularly implemented among the first year students
st
starting the 1 Semester, AY 2018-2019 on August 2018, while the old curriculum is
still utilized for the third and fourth year BSF students.
