when he equated the Rainbow Necklace with a chain of Baublestein
citizenry, diverse but linked by the common impress of Your
Majesty’s wise and generous rule. But our fair land is not inhabited
merely by a random mass of grateful humanity; we each have our
local identities, as well. Some of us are loyal Boomerangians.” A
cheer arose from one quarter of the hall. “Others are stouthearted
Sauerburgers.” Another cheer, from another quarter. “And we must
always remember the contributions of the sons and daughters of
Klostridia.” A wild whoop went up from the rear.
The king pounded his scepter on the arm of his throne. “Your
point?” he asked over the din.
“Why, simply this: each color is a province of our kingdom, a
political entity bound together by allegiance to the royal family. Long
live the king!”
