The poet melted back into the crowd and was replaced by a tall
dark man with blazing eyes and a shock of thick black hair. He strode
with great purpose to the space in front of the king and bowed
perfunctorily.
“Your Majesty, my name is Orson Anderson. I have written several
volumes on philosophical subjects. Perhaps you have read them.”
“Name one,” said the king.
“Avoiding the Void”.
“No. Name another.”
“Almostness and Semisubstantiation”.
“No.”
“Prolegomenon ad Hominem”.
“No, no, no. I want only the answer to my question. If it’s already
in one of your books, just recite it to me.”
