My dear granddaughter and husband,
My hearty congratulations on the birth of your son and my sincere
hopes that he may prove better, bigger and smarter than his
predecessors. He has the names of two fine ancient Hebrew leaders
who made Jewish history, Joshua and David. May he grow up and
measure up to his names. I hereby send him a duplicate receipt for
fifty dollars I deposited in the Security First National Bank to his
account. I hope he inherited the good qualities of the good people
the Scots and Jews, who know how to do business and hold on to
their gains. Although I feel like Methuselah by being a great-
grandfather, yet to think of the pleasure one has in playing with little
ones, teasing and tickling for a good laughing, makes me forget my
old age.
Yours,
Grandfather Abraham

My dear granddaughter,
A happy birthday and many more. Enclosed find a check as my
regular gift to my grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which is
five dollars to singles and ten to married ones.
The county museum has set the date for the exhibition, Aug. 4 to
Sep. 7. If Don would like to enter something, you can bring two
pictures and I will enter them for him. May 23 is the last day to enter
it. We will be glad to see you all for Passover. If you come by auto,
you can bring back my wonder carvings.
Best health to all of you,
Abraham
