Letters
Dec 1 59
My dear g.grandson Joshua David,
A happy birthday to you and may you have all your life happiness
every day. I enclose in this letter five dollars to buy yourself a present
from me, so you will be happy and will be sure to remember me in
years to come. It is a wonderful feeling to have such a nice great-
grandson like you. You may not understand what I write you,
because you were born in a foreign country and speak only Spanish,
but your good parents, who are American born and are bilingual, will
translate the letter for you. I hope when you come visiting Los
Angeles we will see each other and have an enjoyable time.
Adios,
Abraham Rothstein

To the Dudleys and Dudlikies,
Congratulations and good wishes. Enclosed find my gift to Jesse
for a start to have him practice economy and save his money for
college terms. I wish you, Sharon, a healthy recovery and good
strength to take care of the two boys. I shall be happy to see the little
fellows in the near future, and also Don and you.

My dear great-grandson Jesse,
Enclosed I send you my regular birthday gift, like I do for my
grandchildren, and wishing you a happy birthday and a happy whole
year until next birthday to come. I have enjoyed your company a few
weeks ago on a Saturday when I drove out with your grandparents to
La Jolla. You are a fine boy, and if I could have you with me close for
a few weeks, or years rather, it would give me the greatest happiness.
