Final exam
If just before a person dies,
His life is flashed before his eyes;
And having spent his final breath
Reviewing means to put off death,
The last thought then to cross his brain
Is “All I’ve learned has been in vain.”
Haunting questions
1.
My archives end in a shredder—
But how can that make them deader,
When each memory that matters
Haunts me like a spook in tatters?
2.
Is it by a ghost I’m haunted,
When it’s the qualities wanted
In survivors causing unease—
Now a hunger I can’t appease?
