The mask that peels
Like an onion
Will make you cry;
Better leave it
Stuck to your face
Until you die.

They know not of its blindness;
Sightless too love’s on them hung,
But there it is a kindness.
A lesson learned late,
In consternation:
You were thinking Fate
Yields to temptation.
