We’re hot enough to wilt
And soon about to singe,
Wrapped in our crazy quilt
Edged with lunatic fringe.

Who’s not well-grounded
In the art of Zeus,
But nonetheless tries
To let lightning loose,
Is going to get
Stewed in his own juice.

“Ha!” said Zeus. “Who are these party-crashers?
Why, it’s just a bunch of atom-smashers!
Hey, wake up, Neptune: you’d better go douse
This fire! Those mortals will bring down the house!”
