Chapter Twenty-Six
Drug Daze
Hudson and I are big on celebrating. Truthfully, it’s just
another excuse for a party and hey, who doesn’t like a birthday
party for some good clean fun! The birthday boy doesn’t get
to party quite as much anymore, not since dropping out of
university. Managing a 24-hour Fullers restaurant is pretty
much all-consuming. I know he misses university life but
most definitely not the classes. Economics just really wasn’t
his thing.
It doesn’t take much convincing for our friends Ken and
Brenda to join in on this weeknight celebration. It’s second
term for the three of us and we’re needing a good pick-me-up.
Final exams are soon. Then I will be done! I can’t believe it. It’s
rather daunting when I stop to think about it but very exciting
at the same time. I can’t wait to see what my future brings.
Smoking weed is always part of our celebrations. It’s just
everyday life. Whether hanging out with friends, watching a
hockey game or having a party, the weed is there! Some people
have their liquor cabinet, we have our “dope duck.” A bag of
weed and our stash of hash are all kept in the small decorative
wicker basket shaped like a duck. It was a wedding present
and is quite possibly the most utilized gift we received. Of
course, I wouldn’t tell that to the people who gave us the crock
pot. I like their pot, honest. It’s just the wrong kind of pot!
Hudson grabs four beers from the fridge as we pass the
first joint around. My husband is an excellent roller, unlike
me. I am useless so don’t even try. Then, from out of nowhere
