Chapter Forty-Three
fizzle. We both land on the bed and fall asleep fully dressed.
So much for a wild night of matrimonial bliss!
Arriving back at our house the next morning, we discover
lipstick scribbled notes on every window and mirror. We should
have known better than to leave our keys with our neighbours
Joe and Ruth. Such pranksters!
We pull out of our driveway with rattling tin cans dragging
behind us. The same culprits have written, “Honk if you’re
horny!” on our back window. We both laugh. We are officially

Our honeymoon in the breathtaking countryside of New
Hampshire is lovely. I feel blessed and very grateful. Gord has
changed my life and he has changed me. I wish for our love

home early. So that he can play hockey! I am not kidding. I am
so in love with this guy that I agreed to cut the honeymoon a
few days short so he can play on the ice with the other boys.
I do my best to understand that it is the finals, after all. But
come on … it’s not the NHL. It’s a beer league! And this is our
honeymoon. But I am so madly in love, so I acquiesce.
After our romantic getaway, it’s back to life as usual. Our
physical relationship returns with gusto and thank goodness.
Because now that I’m Mrs. Lemon I’m feeling my clock ticking.
At the ripe old age of 33 I am physically aching to have a baby.
The timing is perfect since I’m in between albums. That might
sound funny, but for a recording artist, it’s reality. The time is
right to start a family. For my hormones, it’s definitely time.
We visit Pastor Duguid and ask for his blessing. He prays
for us, asking for God’s will in our decision. God’s will is pretty
resounding.
