Reason To Sing

              “I’m pregnant!”
              First time’s the winner.
“Wow, that was some prayer!” Gord reacts, a bit stunned.
“I know! It all happened so fast, but we prayed and God
answered. If that’s not a sign, I don’t know what is. This is
          obviously meant to be!”
I am over the moon excited! Being caught up in my own
world of emotions, I naturally assume that Gord is every bit as
excited too. But right now, he just looks like he is feeling the
weight of all the responsibility. That’s it.
I try to assuage his fears. “Honey, you’re just a little bit
shocked, that’s all. I have no doubt you’ll be an excellent dad.
          You’ll be amazing.”
He doesn’t sound convinced. “Yeah, I’m sure I will be.”
“I know exactly where and when,” I gloat.
“You do? How do you know that?”
“When I drove to meet you when you were on tour with
Frank Mills. The Red Carpet Inn? Remember?”
“Oh yeah,” Gord smiles ever-so-slightly. “Guess we’ll
be able to tell our first-born their conception got red carpet
          treatment.”
Indeed. Not that the carpet in our room was red but I did
get a good look at it when I stood on my head that morning,
after sex, while Gord showered. My little gymnastic display
          must have done the trick.
I have an excellent pregnancy and love the whole experience.
Never sick once, I am constantly craving fresh fruit. Showing
off my belly, I even make a TV appearance, as a presenter at the
Canadian Country Music Awards. I am glowing with my baby
growing inside of me. God has taken my life and completely
flipped it around. With all the positive reinforcement, many
old wounds continue to heal. My heart is in a safe place. Even
