RECLAIM YOUR DIGITAL GOLD
much fun it was to work on an assignment about the early
stages of digital audio technology and how computer
chips (microprocessors) were implanted in stereo
equipment to improve the audio experience and make
sound systems state-of-the-art. My research led me to
believe that such equipment would become dependent
on computer chips in the future.
This new and beneficial application of the chip was
taking the sound and acoustic industry to a whole
new level, and I was very excited with my research and
presentation. I then realized this was the start of a trend —
computers were here to stay, and innovative applications
of computer technology would forever change the future.
That’s when I decided to study computer science for my
postsecondary education and, eventually, as a vocation.
Interestingly, my first love was to become an artist
or illustrator, creating paintings and artwork. Still, it
quickly became apparent that there were limited career
opportunities for artists. So, I abandoned that interest
and pursued a career in computer science, as I believed it
was the field of the future and that current technological
trends would revolutionize our society.
I was correct.
During my school and work years, I immersed myself
in this thriving industry by working on software and
applications. I’ve seen our society change and become
more reliant on computers as a result of Microsoft and
Apple (who spawned the computer science industry),
hardware manufacturers, and software solution
development.
