all disappointment and hurts of this earthly life. It is for those who truly
wish to love Jesus to the exclusion of every other vain thing taking
precedence in their lives, and who love Him because of who He is and
not because of what He does for them. The journey of the Shulamite is
an invitation from God Himself—the One who holds everything
together — to live in ever-increasing consciousness of the truth that He
calls us His ‘Beloved’, loves us unconditionally, desires
companionship with us, and bestows upon us His lavish grace and
undeserved favour.
The journey is a journey of covenantal love. Jesus is the Bridegroom-
King who woos, loves, equips, and never gives up on the Shulamite.
She, for her part, must be humble, honest, and yield to obedience.
