SESSION 14 : Song of Songs Chapter 6:1-7 (TPT)
The reference to her teeth (verse 6) corresponds to her ability to
meditate and digest spiritual truth—or, as The Passion Translation
(TPT) says, she has fed on the truth of God’s words and taken them into
her heart, which has resulted in her becoming balanced and complete.
In verse 7 of the NIV, it says:
“…Your temples behind your veil are like the halves of pomegranates.”
This interpretation is very clear in The Passion Translation. The halves
of the pomegranates are her cheeks that glow and blush with passion—
passion that one cannot fail to notice despite her countenance being
veiled with humility. Think of the inside of a halved pomegranate—the
words ripe and fruitful spring to mind!
She has ripened in spiritual maturity and fruitfulness—yes—but
through no other reason than the outpoured, unchanging, unwavering
love and affection from her Beloved. The fact that she has faltered and
stumbled along the way has not dampened His ardour for her at all. He
has remained constant throughout their whole journey—and she loves
Him all the more because of this.
So many of us fall prey to performance-related love, approval, and
acceptance. As soon as we make a mistake or fall into disobedience,
we think we have lost the love of Jesus. This is a lie, which results in
feelings of separation in our minds and hearts.
At times like this, we must remember that our God is a covenant-
keeping God who is totally committed to us—every step of our spiritual
