majority in any circumstance.” This maiden was now invincible, and
it had become possible through her wholehearted pursuit of the
Bridegroom King.
The description of her hair being like royal tapestry and captivating the
King bears reference to the fact that her commitment to Him had
enabled the King to weave His tapestry for her life, as opposed to her
choosing to go her own way. The Word of God makes it very clear that
when we choose to follow Jesus, our lives are no longer our own—they
belong to Him. This can mean that, on occasion, we have some very
difficult choices to make because the way He leads can be very
sacrificial and hard to understand:
“Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of
me...” (Matthew 10:38, NIV)
However, when we do hand over the reins, He promises:
"Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my
sake will find it." (Matthew 10:39, NIV)
The Shulamite’s life was surrendered and given over to His leading and
direction, and this had enabled Him to weave a Royal Daughter—one
who challenged mediocrity and the status quo. It absolutely thrilled
Him—it thrills Him still. Not only was she His delight, but her actions
were His delights also, as they lined up with His will.
