SESSION 3 : Song of Songs Chapter 1:3-8 (NKJV)
we love people. And God the Father is revealed to us through the person
of Jesus Christ.
In Colossians 1:15 (NIV), we read:
“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all
creation.”
At this point in the journey—although she is not yet aware how costly
it will be—she has had sufficient revelation of the loveliness of God to
want to go higher and deeper. The curiosity of the less mature has also
been awakened, as they say: “We will run after you.” In other words:
“You go ahead, and when we see what happens, then we may follow.”
I love verse 4 of Song of Songs in the New Living Translation:
“Take me with you. Come, let us run! The king has brought me into his
bedroom. How happy we are for you, O king. We praise your love even
more than wine.”
Several points stood out to me here. Firstly, she uses the singular:
“Take me...” and then she says “Come, let us run…” and moves into
the plural. There always have to be those who will forge the way ahead
into greater intimacy with the Lord and the new moves of the Spirit.
The Shulamite is such a one. She is a type of forerunner, carrying the
bridal anointing, and others who have watched and seen her journey are
also encouraged to run after Him.
