RADICAL LOVE
the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with
God Himself]!” (Ephesians 3:19, AMPC)
Jeanne Guyon writes:
“When your heart displays enough faithfulness to be willing to give up
the gifts of God in order to reach God Himself, God will shower you
with the very gifts that you have set aside. But He quickly removes
Himself from those who are only seeking His gifts and His graces and
not Him alone.”
Verse 4 (NIV) then continues with the daughters of Jerusalem
declaring:
“We rejoice and delight in You! We will remember your love more than
wine…”
Having seen the transformation in the Shulamite, the daughters of
Jerusalem are also being drawn into a level of greater commitment and
desire for the King. They announce their determination to keep focused
on Him, and we do well to follow suit. We must keep the fire burning
on the altar of our hearts and remember all that He has done for us—to
keep Him in mind even when things are dark and stormy, or when we
are being tempted, and even when we cannot see the way forward.
The Lord promises us that those who place their trust in Him will never
be put to shame (Romans 10:11).
