          W
                         hile I was in the bathroom trying to clean the disgusting,

                         smelly slime off my head, Tara and Erika came to check
                         up on me.

               “Oh my God, are you okay?” Tara asked.
               “Yeah, I mean, apart from the smelly thing on my head, I’m fine,”

          I said as I removed one huge piece of the gooey slime stuck below my

          scalp.
               “That guy is a savage beast!” Erika exclaimed. “I can’t believe he

          did that to you. I mean, I know he’s done some crazy pranks before,
          but this is too far!”

               “Yeah, but I don’t think that was just some random prank,” Tara

          said as she gently picked slime out of my hair.
               “It’s fine, guys,” I mumbled. “But…  I actually thought he was

          gonna kiss me or something when he got that close.”
               Tara let out a half-laugh. “Maybe a hug, but a kiss? No way he’d

          kiss you.”
               I narrowed my eyes. “And why not?”

               She hesitated, then said, “Well… one, you guys literally bully each

          other—everyone knows that. And two, I heard he doesn’t even like
          Black girls.”

               Her words hit hard. I didn’t even know what to say at first. Caleb
          and I had been in the same class for years. We basically grew up side
