hen we arrived, we picked up lead pencils—not the
regular kind, but the glowing ones. We also grabbed
large erasers, the artistic type, and a set of tall, slender
bottles. I mean, Alexa took the skinny long ones, and I took a Stanley
Cup. And my gosh, it cost a lot.
“Gigi! That’s $40! We don’t have that much money for that!”
“Oh, Alexa, I wonder—how are you still my best friend? I mean,
seriously, you never agree to anything! Like I said, it’s fine.”
“Alright, fine.” She rolled her eyes.

When we got to the cashier, the whole pack of stuff we bought was
$59.99! That was way over our budget.
“Whoa! This is way too much. Way more than I expected,” I said,
staring right at the price.
“I told you,” Alexa said, shrugging.
I gulped. While we were walking back home, Alexa kept on
looking at me like I had done something bad.
“What?” I asked, turning to her.
“We just bought expensive stuff!” She raised her hands
dramatically in the air.
“So? No big deal.”
“No big deal? Gigi, all these things cost $60. It is a big deal!”
