CHAPTER 1
G
igi was the name everyone called me, but my birth name is
actually Georgia. I guess Gigi was cuter and better, and I’ve
never argued about that.
I’m starting a new school today because I just moved to Seattle, in
America, and had to change schools. My dad got a new job here, so we
just had to move away. Anyway, I’m not that upset because I have my
best friend, Alexa. She somehow convinced her parents to let her move
in with me—but only for three months. Still, I’m glad she decided to
come. I mean, I have no siblings, and my friends are… well, I don’t
know, but they’re just not useful in my life, ya know?
Anyway, today at breakfast, Alexa and I wanted to get school
supplies for our new school, but my parents wanted us to go out as a
family instead. And I really wanted to buy stuff for school because we
only had two days left!
I got out of my chair and said to my parents, “Mom, Dad, please!
This is my only chance to get all the things I need for school if I have
to fit in.”
“But honey, you know we’re going for a family day,” Mom said.
“But that’s not fair! I mean, this ‘family day’ thing you made up
is so not cool.”
