THE LIFE OF A TEENAGE GIRL
Chris into my life, but I want both of you to be friends with me,
Jayson.”
I said that from my heart, soul, and body. This time, even if he said
no, I was just going to slap him and take Chris away as my new love
partner.
“Okay, okay. I agree to this friend status being quo.” He nodded,
chuckling under his breath. “I’ve already forgiven you, Kandis. You
were the only one who stood by me when I was a kid—how could I
ever push you away? I just needed to know if you’d ever try to come
back. I mean, I wanted you back.”
Chris jumped in before I could respond. “Wait—you still like
Kandis?”
I focused my eyes and thoughts only on Jayson this time. Was he
going to say what I thought he was going to say?
“Um… no, not really. I decided to let the feelings go away. She’s
my best friend—I can’t date her.” He said it like a joke.
Now that’s what I wanted to hear—the real Jayson, confessing that
he didn’t like me.
“Exactly! Because you guys are just friends!” I hugged them both
softly, then pulled back quickly.
For now, it seemed everything was and is going well. I just hope
that as I grow up, this problem won’t happen again. Because I already
have my real friends: Chris, Jayson, and, of course, Nellie.
