ou need to just… give me some time.” I turned my head
away, still holding his hand. “I need to fix, resettle, and
think about this situation between me and my one and true
best friend first. Then we can—”
“Then we can what? Go back to the same restaurant, redo the
hangout, and pretend like we’re in love—and also act like nothing
happened this week?” Chris raised his voice a bit.
I blinked rapidly, not knowing what to say. This was so confusing,
messed up, and crazy—especially hard to deal with.
“Like I said, just admit it. If not, then we can just go our own ways,
like how you and Jayson did. I’m sorry, Kandis.”
He removed his hands from mine and left my side—and the school.
Leaving me alone there, the last person just standing in the foyer,
overthinking my thoughts. Mostly about me being devastated.
Back at home, I wasn’t distracted by anyone in the house. My
parents and Myra realized I wasn’t feeling good today. I don’t know if
they know about my breakup with two of my guy friends, or maybe
Myra told them about Saturday night, but I barely cared. I was worrying
about my life problems—not just today’s, but all of them right now.
Including Uncle Eddie being gone. He went back to his home this
morning. I didn’t get to see or say goodbye to him for the last time, but
