I stared for a moment, just stunned.
He set the bottles down and asked, “Make sense now?”
Honestly, how does he know this stuff? The way he explained
it—so calmly, like he just knew how to connect science to real life.
“Um…” I stammered. “Since when were you this good at physics?”
He laughed. “I don’t know if it’s physics or just… observation.
Maybe intelligence decided to visit me today.”
Wow. Did he just subtly call me dumb?
“Okay, genius, can we please go back to the project now?” I said
with a fake laugh.
He nodded. “Sure.”
But just as we tried to turn the page to the section on mass, the
lunch bell rang.
I sighed and started packing up my books when he tapped my
shoulder.
“So… I’ll see you tomorrow?” he asked.
I blinked. “Tomorrow? We have gym after lunch, remember?”
His face went blank. “Wait—we do?”
“Yeah, we’re on the same schedule the whole semester.”
“Ohhh, so… classmates forever?”
I laughed harder than I meant to—loud enough that people
probably heard me in the hall.
