Luke 10:38–42 (paraphrase)

The Story of Mary and Martha

There were about thirteen people to feed that morning,

and Martha was very busy. Meanwhile, her sister Mary
sat on the floor, listening intently to the stories. Martha

came to Jesus, frustrated, and said, "Lord, do You not
care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore,

tell her to help me." (v40, NIV). But He just smiled and
said, "You are worried and upset about many things, but

few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has

chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from
          her." (v41-42, NIV).

dumplings, mackerel or codfish, fried plantain, and
