any treaty, any military action, any business transaction,
governmental activity, space travel, and interstellar commerce

or even more significant than any literary publication, or even
any musical composition. When Tommy handed the XTC to
Trash, it was the beginning of salvation for each and every
sentient creature in the universe. Trash promptly wipes
Tommy’s germs off it with the tail of his shirt.

After Tommy handed the object to Trash, he proceeded to
discuss the possibility that maybe the secret service search was
just a coincidence. Trash completely ignored him. He took the

object to the kitchen and tried to shave a piece off of it with a
knife. Steve and Tommy stayed in the lounge and discussed
the chances it was all a mistake. The knife had no effect. Then
Trash went to the closet and grabbed a hammer, placed the
object on the floor of the closet and banged it sharply with the
hammer. Steve said that he thought it was silly for Tommy to
react like he was guilty of something. There was no noticeable

effect from hammering the object over and over. By this time
Steve and Tommy had stopped talking and were quietly
watching to see what the very noisy Trash would do next.
“Come on.” He said absent-mindedly and walked briskly out
the door to the car.

Steve’s parents lived a few minutes away on what used to be a
farm and was now a farmhouse with many overgrown fields of
